The Getinge Assured Bowie-Dick Test Card is used for daily monitoring of pre-vacuum steam sterilizers operating at 134°C. The stated value of 134°C for 3.5 minutes is valid for laboratory test cycles as specified and required by the indicator standard EN ISO 11140-4. A true hospital Bowie-Dick test cycle, as specified by EN 285, is different from the EN ISO 11140-4 test cycle and is required to mirror the routine hospital sterilizer cycle. To override differences between indicator test cycle and hospital Bowie-Dick test cycles, EN 285 allows variation of the plateau period.
